I don’t want to, but I’ve got to let my 1998 Jeep Cherokee go. I searched for YEARS for the perfect Cherokee before I found this one in Arizona in 2011 and it has been such a great vehicle. I love driving this stupid thing! They seriously do not make them like they used to and it breaks my heart to see this thing go but I don’t really have a choice.

The 4.0L in-line 6 cylinder 1998-1999 model Cherokees are the most sought after and easily the best to roll off the line and this one is as clean as you’ll find. This XJ came from the Arizona desert and has ZERO rust issues. When I got it, the previous owner had been fighting with the death wobble. I replaced the entire suspension with a Rubicon Express 5.5” long arm lift and it hasn’t done it since. The engine runs great – no weird noises, no dash lights – transmission shifts are good and crisp, never given me any issues, and the transfer case shifts smoothly in and out of 2WD, 4-High, Neutral, and 4-Low.

Known issues:

It does wander a bit. I have read that these steering boxes can be adjusted internally and brought back to factory feel but I haven't ever messed with it.

The first 1/4-1/3 of the brake pedal is a little squishy – both of these issues could just be because I’ve gotten used to driving a newer pickup that has touchy brakes and really tight steering. The brakes work fine and it will stop as you'd expect it to.

The rear passenger door lock only operates manually. Not sure if it's the motor or the switch but a set of new switches for the locks and windows is included.

Front passenger window rolls slowly. A new motor/regulator is included.

Front driver door check doesn't check so well. I've included a new one.

I'm not sure where the CB antenna went but I can drop one in if you want.

Factory heat shield was removed when I replaced the header. There’s a brand new DEI shield for the manifold, fuel rail, and injectors waiting to be installed.

Some of the paint on the hood, the roof, and around some windows has flaked off. It shows in the pictures but if you want more pics I’ll get them for you.
