UPDATE – The drivetrain is now fine for street driving. The transfer case was in Low when I was driving it, my mistake. When you put it in High you have a street vehicle you can take anywhere. I apologize for the misinformation.

1981 Jeep CJ-5, with 51,402 miles originally manufactured by AMC, was built back in the early 1990โ€™s to be a force to take on trails and crawling adventures.

This mostly original Jeep has been stored in a heated garage for more than 20 years and used sparingly. However, the 2nd owner spared no expense to build up the 401 cubic inch AMC motor and drivetrain to withstand any condition.

The body is in excellent shape (REBUILT) and retains its original interior and Renegade decals on the hood. The roll bar cover and top were replaced in 2000 as Best Top equipment and are in good condition. The top color matches the original denim blue. The top windows are cloudy from the elements and could be replaced by a good top repair service or cleaned. The side doors are in excellent shape with unclouded plastic windows.

Under the hood sits a 401 CI AMC V8 (with a little over 1100 miles since built) is coupled to a T176 4-speed manual transmission. This motor was built with flat top pistons, Summit rods, Crane Off Road cam , Summit steel roller rockers, double roller timing chain, Edelbrock Torquer intake manifold, Edelbrock 750 cab, which has recently been replaced with a Holly 4 barrel with electric choke. (the Edelbrock 750 does come with it) Mallory ignition, Hooker headers, 94 Amp Alternator, Hays HD Clutch and pressure plate, Drive line by Advanced Drive Line, Mean Green starter, new gas tank, fuel pump and fuel lines installed in Aug 2023. Moser Super Duty Axles, Lock Right Lockers (front and rear) and 456 gears, Superwinch hubs, new brakes, and bearings, Warn X8000 which and off-road kit.
